Not A Happy Hilary

I have now been told this three times in 24 hours, and all the sources are impeccable. Hilary Armstrong is so unimpressed by the calibre (or lack of it) of the potential successors being pushed by the New Labour machine, that she is seriously considering standing again after all.

  1. I heard that Ed Balls is being lined up for it, as he fears his Normanton seat will fall to the Tories.

  2. Maybe she's been influenced by the BNP threat to not run against anyone else but you?

  3. Ed Balls is chromosomely ineligible to the Labour candidate for this seat. No jokes about his name, please.

The BNP threat still stands. It was repetaed in the hearing of one of my, shall we say, associates only last week.

Hilary is clearly now as disillusioned with New Labour as everyone else. But the CLP knew that she wasn't getting any younger, knew that there would be an all-women shortlist, and failed to nurture anyone.

sO They will have only themselves to blame if Hilary does retire after all and they get someone who has never lived outside London except while at Oxbridge, and who has only ever been Ed'n'Yvette's babysitter or something.
