Incapacity Benefit - You'll Have To Have A Medical

Apparently.

So how the hell do you get it now?

I think we should be told.

  1. You get a medical. The point is that all claimants are to be retested. The intention is to cut the IB bill, not get people into employment - there will be job cuts in the next few years, not increased hiring. Besides, most of the areas in which there are high levels of people on incapacity benefits already have levels of unemployment...

  2. Doctor's note. Have you been to the doctors recently? I took my daughter with an ear infection the other day, and he listened to her chest and checked her capilliary refill, but failed to look in her ears.

  3. Patrick, I haven't been to the doctor's for years.

Charlie, you are right of course. But we all know that there are people who have stayed on IB long after there ceased to be anything wrong with them, and who are quite often working cash in hand. Why not make people get checked out again every so often?
