Target Seats

The British People's Alliance will be contesting every seat in the United Kingdom at any General Election from 2009 onwards. But we are particularly keen to have strong local candidates in place as soon as possible in order to bring about the removal, in italicised cases even before being elected, of the following:

Michael Ancram (Devizes)
Nicholas Boles (Grantham and Stamford)
Damian Collins (Folkestone and Hythe)
Michael Gove (Surrey Heath)
Fabian Hamilton (Leeds North East)
Stephen Hammond (Wimbledon)
Denis MacShane (Rotherham)
Greg Pope (Hyndburn)
David Ruffley (Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and Needham Market)
Gisela Stuart (Birmingham Edgbaston)
Edward Vaizey (Wantage)
David Willetts (Havant)

Further signatories to either or both of the Henry Jackson Society and the Euston Manifesto who become parliamentary candidates will of course be added to this priority list. We will stop at nothing to ensure that such people are either thrown out or kept out of Parliament. So, where are the candidates to do this? - davidaslindsay@hotmail.com

  1. I'm sure this blog is at least as widely read as the self-styled "top blogs" - Iain Dale, Guido Fawkes and so on. But even so, political blogs are only read by a small minority of people, even of politically-aware people. So I'm worried your message won't get out to the people you need to reach if you just put your appeals here. Where else are you publicising this? I have to admit I haven't seen anything about this anywhere else.

  2. Oh, press releases and round robin emails have gone out, and so forth. But yes, there is work to be done. But, of course, we are currently doing this when we can and for free. So do please spread the word.

  3. Oh, sure, press releases. But for obvious reasons, press releases are only any use at all if a journalist decides to write a story based on them. Who has? It can't just be this blog - but I've searched, and I haven't found anything yet.

  4. No, these things are at least as useful for keeping certain people in the loop, whether or not they print a word of them; they are certainly very appreciative when emailing back. And these are early days.

But they won't always be. Before long, when the Election that was never going to be, and other such frivolities, have been forgotten, our friends in the media will be glad of the copy.

  5. I hope so. Do you think the major broadsheets will publish interviews with you and the other major candidates? That would be briliant. And have you had much interest from prospective candidates? I live in Stamford, and I haven't seen or heard anything in the local paper or in conversations with other people about any prospective BPA challenge? Surely you can find someone to stand in this seat?

  6. As I say, early days. We are still collating contact details of local newspapers in these areas (among others).

If you can sign up to our material, then why don't you be our candidate, Bill? Do get in touch - davidaslindsay@hotmail.com

  7. David - hang on a second! We (I say we - I write as a supporter of yours) don't really know much about this Bill Turnbull. Do you really want to be so hasty as to invite him to be the candidate in Stamford, on the baiss of one supportive blog comment? Is there no one who you actually know, have met, and have vetted, to stand? I worry that doesn't seem very professional. Still, I'm sure you're right - early days.

  8. Oh, he'd have to tell us a great deal about himself before we said yes. And we'd check it all, of course. But he's made an approach, and no one else in that constituency has done, as yet.

As a supporter, Rudy, what are you DOING? - davidaslindsay@hotmail.com
