Conventional

Alas that there will be no Democratic National Convention. The obvious candidate to have nominated Joe Biden would have been Barack Obama.

He could have told the folks at home all about how he and Old Joe had deported more people than any other Administration ever, had dropped more bombs than any other Administration ever, and had maintained the biggest nuclear weapons budget ever.

As much as anything else, Biden will have forgotten all about it. The running mate will be announced any day now. But if she is capable of being President at any time from January onwards, and as good as certainly during the next Presidential term, then why is she not the Presidential nominee?

Bush Era Republicans are lining up to endorse Biden, or at least pointedly not to endorse Donald Trump. Should Democrats be proud of that? A second defeat by Trump, of all people, is the only thing that can rid America and the world of the Democratic Party in anything like its present form.
