You Can't Kid A Kidder?

In that case, Tony Blair must have been the most utterly guileless of men. And perhaps he was?

The death of Ahmad Chalabi calls to mind the lost era of a Prime Minister who would fall for anything. Or at any rate, for anyone. No matter how obviously dodgy.

Or just plain self-deluded. Those of you of a later vintage, look up Carole Caplin. But with her, of course, came the far nastier Peter Foster. Such were the characters that Blair brought into the very heart of government.

And we all know why some people will fall for anything. It is because they stand for nothing.

Still, how very long ago it all seems now.
