I ought to be writing EastEnders, not watching it.

My idea to have Lucy Beale killed by the BBC's two arch-villains, Vladimir Putin and Ed Miliband, was considerably less far-fetched than what they actually showed.

And yes, I am aware that it is not real. But nor is it supposed to be Doctor Who or some children's cartoon with talking animals.

Oh, and her grandmother has come back from the dead.

But I am feeling charitable, so I am going to suggest that the Kathy Beale storyline is a deliberate echo of Bobby Ewing, to match Lucy's deliberate echo of JR.
