Of Motes and Beams

I care profoundly about the plight of the people of Gaza. I can only laugh myself silly at the idea that Christian Aid, or Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal (as Patron of Save The Children), or anyone else associated with the appeal banned by the Beeb, is any sort of sympathiser with Hamas.

But why is so much fuss being made about this, which we have not caused (at least, not directly), rather than about the plight of the people of Afghanistan or Iraq, which we have indeed caused, and that in the most direct way possible?

Alas, I have answered my own question there.

  1. The answer is because people in this country (the MSM included) don't understand the nature of military aid and so don't care about it.

Do you really in your heart of hearts believe that the people of Afghanistan and Iraq would be better off under the Taliban and Saddam Hussein?

If you do then why don't you just say so and be done with it.

That was not why we went to war, not should it have been.

In any case, the oft-invoked women of Afghanistan are no better off.

And the almost entirely ignored Christians of Iraq are a very great deal worse off.
