The State of Israel is sixty years old.
Neither of its official languages is Indo-European. It does not have a Christian majority population. And it does have Sharia courts for those who happen to be born into certain ethnic minorities.
But it is a Western country.
Isn't it?

What do you mean by "Western"? Who do you think you are arguing with?
ReplyDeleteWell, we are constantly told that Israel is "the West's front line" and so forth. It isn't. Whatever else it might be, Israel simply is not a Western country, which is to say a product and a part of the Christian synthesis of the Old Israel, Hellenism, and the Roman Empire.
