Unmashed

The Mash Report, which hardly anybody ever watched, spent at least half its time ridiculing the Opposition. But it now has an Opposition, if it can be so described, that is perfectly to its taste. So its purpose has been reduced by at least half.

We have no fixed preference between conservatives and liberals, between Republicans and Democrats, between the Conservative Party and a Labour Party that has reverted to its historical norm, between the court of Queen Elizabeth and the court of Queen Oprah.

What matters is what we can persuade them to do in the cause of economic equality and international peace. On balance, conservatives tend to be better than liberals. But we can work with either. Although each of them can be very, very bad. And both of them usually are.
