Eve of Poll Card

“Betrayal” is a strong word. But Brexit has been betrayed, as much by Boris Johnson as by anybody else. The newly pro-Johnson Brexit Party has betrayed its previous supporters.

Jeremy Corbyn has betrayed the hopes invested in him, by failing to make the case for Modern Monetary Theory, by wishing to remain constrained by the EU Single Market and Customs Union (within which most of his programme would be impossible), and by failing to make the case against Trident and NATO, which even Donald Trump calls “obsolete”.

Women and girls have been betrayed by all parties’ acceptance of gender self-identification. The anti-racist and anti-imperialist struggle has been betrayed by all parties’ acceptance of the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism, which is also a betrayal of the Holy Land’s ancient indigenous Christians.

Fathers have been betrayed, with no party standing up for them. Industrial and scientific progress has been betrayed, with all parties in favour of calling a halt to it. Julian Assange has been betrayed, left to rot when he has served his sentence for skipping bail and the rape investigation into him has been dropped. And so on.

Vote against them all. Here at North West Durham, vote for me.
