Under Examination

One in five pupils at commercial schools received extra time to complete GCSE and A-level exams last year.

The figure in the state sector was fewer than one in eight.

The only surprise is that anyone is surprised.

The commercial schools have a thoroughly cosy relationship with the examination boards.

Their loudly proclaimed success at those boards' examinations needs to be understood in that light.
