Peering Into Brexit

The only thing that has happened with the Article 50 Bill is that it has been sent to the House of Lords.

When in Opposition, Blairites have toyed with the idea of replacing that House, while the Conservative Party, as such, has advocated doing so in the strongest possible terms.

But when in Government, they have both ruled it out on identical grounds, namely that an elected second chamber would pose a challenge to the authority of the House of Commons.

Well, that challenge is about to be posed, anyway.

Tony Benn tried to tell you.
