The Last Laugh

I long ago stopped watching Downton Abbey. I was never able to get into it, and by all accounts it has now descended into thorough self-parody.

From what I remember and have heard of it, Frances O'Grady's description of it as the model for the society into which we are degenerating sounds about right.

This did not start a mere five years ago. It was five times that long ago, and it was done by the Labour Party.

Still, the other one has had the last laugh, even if he is not necessarily noted for his laughter.

If making him our Greatest Living Statesman to the Dowager Countess's Most Hated Person Alive (the previous titleholder actually came from Grantham) is not a good enough reason to save the Union, then I cannot imagine what is.
