Getting Over It

Crowing in the usual places at the closure of Exodus International, an organisation about which, undeniably, there were serious questions to be asked.

But those who report having overcome homosexual inclinations are merely reporting their experience.

Most people who have gone on to engage predominantly or exclusively in homosexual acts had heterosexual experiences in their formative years.

Often well above the age of consent. Almost always well above what Peter Tatchell would like that age to be.

Why should reporting the reverse experience be taboo?

  1. I would dearly love for you to express these views before a packed-out Labour Party Conference, and the whole UAF/Hope Not Hate, Owen Jones left-wing crowd.

You wouldn't be able to hear yourself speak above the abuse hurled in your direction.

You'd very quickly discover just how little you have in common with the modern Left.

Owen and I will be seeing each other in Durham next month. You should come along.

  3. The homosexual lobby has decided to base its entire program on a form of hard biological determinism which states that homosexuality is an unchangeable inherent quality that defines a person as “homosexual” for two major reasons.

First, there is a theory that people will have more sympathy for those who engage in homosexual acts if said acts are based on some unchangeable biological factor (for example, the long sought-after but elusive “gay gene”).

Second, once homosexuality is defined as an unchangeable trait, it can be treated like race or gender when it comes to legal rights issues.

Those people who overcome their homosexual inclinations and go on to exclusively engage in heterosexual acts, or others who report “mixed” experiences of different sexual acts threaten the idea that homosexuality is a hard biological concept and thus a source of identity akin to race or gender.

In the U.S., if you state that you do not believe that people who engage in homosexual acts are “born to be gay” you are denounced as strongly as a racist.

  4. At least over here, the most important point is that the humane and necessary decriminalisation of male homosexual acts between consenting adults in private predated by several years the rise of this sort of thinking.
