Or Any Other Foreign Country

In the House of Lords today, from Lord Stoddart of Swindon, who wrote one of the commendations in my more recent book, and who is even now rallying dozens, scores, possibly hundreds of Labour Peers in defence of traditional marriage:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will ensure that measures are in place to prevent the CIA or any other United States Government organisations, or any other foreign country organisations including the institutions of the European Union, from financing or otherwise assisting organisations or individuals campaigning in the debate on the United Kingdom's position in the European Union prior to any referendum being held on the subject.[HL5217]

And that in the context of today's announcement of moves towards an EU-US "Free Trade" Agreement. Not very free for the hammers or the sickles of the EU and the US. But who cares about them?

  1. "Possibly hundreds" of Labour peers against gay marriage? Dream on, sir.

His only chance is to forge alliances with Tories.

  2. That's not what everyone from the BBC to the Daily Telegraph to Pink News says.

With no need to pretend to be Tories for constituency associations, the anarcho-capitalist Peers will vote very heavily for this.
