Do We Really Need MI5?

If so, why? What does it do that could not be done by the relevant sections of the Police, restored to proper community involvement and political accountability? The Police have serious questions to answer in the light of what is now known about 7/7. But MI5 has to answer this one: "What is the point of you at all?"

Blair, however, does not need to answer as to whether or not he was involved in speeding along those bombings in order to engage in a smash-and-grab raid of our civil liberties. It goes without saying that he was. But when will he be made to pay for it? And where does that leave his wannabes, understudies and proxies in the present Government?

  1. They are such oiks, aren't they? Not like pinstriped, claret-swilling, America-sceptical, Arab-loving Durham University ornaments whose dads were colonial archdeacons and who live in one of the richest wards in the north.

  2. They have a ridiculous propaganda show on BBC One, which has shown pro-life Catholic activists as terrorists and Russia as trying to set off a nuclear bomb in central London. People think it is real, but that is the idea.

  3. At least it's a British agency. Not like the one you used to blog for before it made you its Mossad Martyr, much revered.

Lucky you. Here in the United States, we have 17 intelligence agencies. Count them, seventeen.

The Labour branch that David Lindsay chaired for about a decade had a long history of its post arriving late and/or preopened. It went back long before him but it cannot have endeared to him people he probably pictures reading the Murdoch papers and using the wrong fork.

  6. As has been said before, David's persecutors and those who are just obsessed with him might use the NHS and expect the SAS or RAF to rescue them from somewhere like Libya. But their paid allegiance is not to Britain and they do not even bother to pay tax here.
