"No Longer Exists As A Fighting Force"

How the British neocons must envy Libya. They have been wanting for years to be able to say that about the RAF. Still, they have pretty much destroyed the Royal Navy, shamed in this conflict, through no fault of its own, by the sight of the French carrying their aircraft on their aircraft carrier, because they still have one.

The march continues relentlessly towards the Henry Jackson Society's stated aim of a single EU defence "capability" under overall American command. Initially, day-to-day control was supposed to be ceded to the Germans. But ever since the election of Sarkozy, there has instead been talk of the French. The adventure in Libya should seal that deal once and for all.

Oh, for a conservative-populist candidate for President of the United States, or a Gaullist candidate for President of the French Republic.
