Councillor Warren Bradley, until recently the Lib Dem Leader of Liverpool City Council, says that his party faces being "wiped out" as a result of the Coalition.
Past Liberal partners of the Conservative Party have indeed been subsumed into it, and have thus ceased to exist as separate parties. But ideologically and politically, they have taken it over, a process now as good as complete, and which will be so when the event feared by Councillor Bradley comes to pass.
However, there have always remained separate Liberals. The Liberal Party not only still exists, but it is relatively strong in Liverpool. Perhaps Councillor Bradley and those of like mind should join it? Perhaps they will.
