On 19th October, NeoCon Coughlin is to head up a Spectator debate calling for the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force to be "scrapped" and replaced with "a massive British Marine Corps". Well, "massive" it would not be. Nor would it be "British". What Coughlin and his ilk want is for this body - nothing like the Royal Marines or the United States Marine Corps, but rather a means for the very least accomplished male school leavers to be used as cannon fodder - to be under overall American command but, through the EU, day-to-day German control.
But by 19th October, will the Defence Secretary who shares those views still be in office? Or will his set-up of an appointment by the much more traditionally Tory David Cameron and William Hague, including his encirclement even among his own Ministers by those in that vein and by a Lib Dem, have achieved its ultimate objective, namely the humiliating fall both of him and of his nefarious aspirations, taking with them his CIA handler of a Special Adviser?
