Those roads in Basingstoke, apparently impossible to pass, looked exactly as roads here always look at this time of year, and the buses run entirely on time. They are doing it now, this very day. I have been on them.
No shop staff in Newcastle or at the Metro Centre have been allowed to sleep on the beds used for show. Words really do fail me.
This weather happens every year, as does the hysterical reaction to it. Every single year. What is it with people in the South, that they insist they "never" get snow?

They weren't impossible to pass because of the snow but because of the volume of traffic slowed down by the snow.
ReplyDeleteAt 3:30pm everyone in my office in Bracknell did a runner for home, as did everyone in the surrounding offices and factories, leading to total gridlock, together with a number sleeping overnight at the offices, a first for our building.
Luckily for me I'd come in by public transport so a 40 minute walk led me to the train station and on a train homeward bound.
If we'd had snow every day then we'd soon get used to it.
But you get it every year. Same as we do.
