Shut Your Trapp

An ostensible expert on Central European affairs, an Emeritus Professor no less, rejoiced to ask Jeremy Vine and his listeners if they “remember[ed] the joke in The Sound of Music about the Austrian Navy?”. He was perfectly serious. On whom was the joke here? Him? Or, since he was not picked on it, the BBC? Both, of course.

    Austria is a land-locked country you ridiculous little man. Obviously it has never had a navy.
