Is This The Meaning Of "A Police State"?

The Association of Chief Police Officers is at it again.

From the people who brought us the de facto legalisation of cannabis and the de facto lowering of the age of consent to 13, but who nevertheless demand the powers to bang people up for six weeks without even so much as charging them with anything and to require the rest of us to carry State-issued Existence Licenses, comes a call to legalise sex in public places, or at least not to prosecute people who engage in it.

As with cannabis and as with the age of consent, the order will now go out, if it has not already done so, not to charge, or even not to arrest, such offenders. And gallant indeed will be the beat officer or station sergeant who fails to comply, doing instead what he or she is paid to do: enforcing the law of the land.
