Paddy Ashdown’s long-standing ties to the war machine are of course well-known, not least thanks to Ashdown himself. So we could all guess his sympathies where the latest adventures were concerned, and he has since put them on record.
So much for the unanimously anti-war Lib Dems, who also never withdrew the whip, either at Westminster or at Strasbourg, from Emma Nicholson.
But now even Ashdown admits that Afghanistan is lost. So why is there still anybody at all who does not admit it?
