Revolutionary, Guard

The United States is now at war with Iran. 

By designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organisation, President Trump has activated the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF) against an organ of another state, specifically the Islamic Republic of Iran.

For the sake of the country that really was behind the events that gave rise to the AUMF, the war with Iran is now on.

Iran needs all the friends that it can get, or at least all the non-enemies. If it wants to court British public and parliamentary opinion, then it needs to release Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

As the Member of Parliament for North West Durham, I would board a plane to Tehran and simply refuse to leave without Nazanin. But she really does not have that long to wait.

As his MP in Glasgow, George Galloway once got Hassan Rouhani a council house. Yes, really. They go back a very long way. If George boarded a plane to Tehran and simply refused to leave without Nazanin, then he could bring her home. 

Another hung Parliament is coming, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.  It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.
