Left Quaking

99 years after the enfranchisement of working-class men, that class ended a 30-year absence and returned to the polls to deliver the biggest shock to the British political system in living memory. 

From 1987 onwards, following the third kicking in a row, the working class largely gave up voting. Six more kickings seemed to confirm their cynicism of the whole affair. But in 2017, someone gave them a reason to vote again. The result means that they will be back in even larger numbers next time.

No, of course there was no "youthquake". There was this. And that should frighten far more profoundly those who are in the most profound need of being frightened.
