The Competitions and Markets Authority has made a good start against the sharp practices of the gambling industry. Its new rules now need to be written into the Statute Law.
We also need the removal of Fixed Odds Betting Terminals, the empowerment of local authorities to limit the number of gambling venues, the use of that power, an end to gambling on television, and an end to the advertising of gambling other than at venues such as casinos and betting shops.
