After
all that build-up, with the Lobby dragged from Birmingham to Bristol, that was
it?
Either a defector pulled out, or UKIP stands exposed as a
party of Charles Pooters and Walter Mittys, which is now bankrolled by a
petulant man with a very large chip on his shoulder.
Of course, those two propositions
are not mutually exclusive.
As a party, UKIP is a media creation. But this fiasco has
squandered an awful lot of that indulgence.
A party with no seats, yet which has never been off the
telly in years now. On one notable occasion, its candidate who had lost a by-election was on the Question
Time panel
one week later.
The media created you, UKIP, just for fun. But you have annoyed them with this. They'll have you for it. Just you wait and see.
