A President who sexually harasses his staff? Totally unacceptable, of course. But not exactly unprecedented.
Bill Clinton was an awful President, one of the very worst, with his NAFTA, his GATT, and his wars all over the place, valiantly opposed by something that was then still doing a passable impersonation of the Republican Party.
Moreover, he was practically a rapist, and undeniably a staggering misogynist, as well as having a record which stretched from annually laying wreaths at Confederate monuments while a Governor, to telling Ted Kennedy that the then Senator Obama "should be getting us coffee".
In best George Wallace fashion, he sought to make his Lurleen the paper President in order to grant himself a third and a fourth term. Between them, they had singularly failed to deliver healthcare reform.
Yet there are those who, specifically as strongly committed liberals and feminists, lionise this ghastly pair, and insist that Hillary was the legitimate nominee in 2008. It is all very odd. Except, of course, that it is not. We all know what it is really about.

All completely true. Bill Clinton also helped to eviscerate Glass-Steagall when he signed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act into law. He is as much to blame for the collapse of financial regulation in the United States (and all that has sprung from that collapse) as any Republican.
