Waiting To Be Liberated

The Cathedral of the Saintly Sisters, Isfahan.

Awaiting the freedom that has been brought to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Salvation, Baghdad.

Or to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem; to the Church of the Annunciation, Nazareth; and to the Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem.

  1. I wonder how many Free Republic posters realize that the wars they support have made things much worse for Middle Eastern Christians. I also wonder if they realize how much better Middle Eastern Christian had it under secular Arab nationalists.

Indeed, Ibrahim Al-Yazigi, a Lebanese Christian, was arguably the founder of Arab nationalism. But supporting a secular, nationalist alternative is problematic for many American conservatives who uncritically support Israel. They want to turn the Middle East into Orange County but they fail to realize how unrealistic that is and that in many cases the only realistic alternative to secular nationalism is violent Islamism. And the Christians of the Middle East suffer as a result of this foolishness.
