The Mandate of Heaven

Should we and the Dutch adopt towards Iceland the age-old Chinese attitude towards everyone, now most notably including the United States, of always giving far more than can possibly be repaid, so that the other side is for ever in debt? On that understanding, China will never call in America's debt, since to do so would be to set America free. Might we try similar behaviour? It certainly works for them, and has done for an extremely long time.
