"Neo-Medievalist"

An Observer profile quotes the unutterably ludicrous John Shelby Spong calling Rowan Williams “a neo-medievalist” for, according to Spong, teaching an orthodoxy which he does not himself believe. Not only is this untrue in the case of Dr Williams, but it is also untrue in relation to the Middle Ages. It was Saint Thomas Aquinas, no less, who composed the liturgy for Corpus Christi. Other such examples could be cited practically without end. The more “neo-medievalists”, the better.
