Colder and Colder

We were all supposed to be delighted at last year's Polish Election results. Well, I certainly wasn't. And now, to no one's surprise, we see what was supposed to delight us so much. The Cold War in Europe is back on, but with its frontier moved several hundred miles eastwards.

The new American missiles in Poland will be a deliberate provocation to Russia, to the delight both of the old Trots and of their new best friends, those who venerate the memory of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan in complete disregard of the actual record of either, not least the fact that the Soviet Union happened to collapse (as it would have done anyway) a year after she left office and fully three years after he did.
