Civil partnerships have fallen by fifty-five per cent in the last year. Now there’s a surprise. If anyone really wants to revive this moribund scheme, then, since a civil partnership already does not need to be consummated as marriage does, they should open it up to close relatives, whether of the same or of opposite sexes.
