Donald Trump is still threatening to sue the BBC for, by his standards, a relatively modest one billion dollars.
But if the toppling of Tim Davie, a veteran Conservative activist and sometime candidate, were somehow a victory over the Left, then under a Labour Government there would have to be a settling of the score, and that would look like the removal of Robbie Gibb.
Gibb sits for England, so the Parliamentary Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Greens, and the Independent Alliance ought to insist that the Government make it clear that it would not be willing to reappoint him in 2028. The Government ought then to confirm that.
That that is not going to happen says all that needs to be said.
He has called the Panorama hacks dishonest and corrupt.
ReplyDeleteThey should sue him.
DeleteGibb should never have been on the BBC Board. His old job as Director of Communications at Number 10 should have ruled him out, just as it would Alastair Campbell. He should resign too.
ReplyDeleteBut with whom would Keir Starmer replace him?
