Paul Ovenden is absolutely typical. Ever since Tony Blair elbowed aside Gordon Brown in 1994, the Labour Right, which had previously had a strong intellectual element, has been just like him, lifelong versions of the worst sort of undergraduate.
The scandalously little-known Forde Report found its denizens to have called people things like “pube head” and “smelly cow”. It also found, as some of us had already known in great detail, that that faction was racist to the core, with, for example, a stalwart calling Diane Abbott an Angry Black Woman.
