Ut Vitam Habeant?

Yesterday, the voters of North Evington, in Leicester, went to the polls. 6,934 valid votes were cast. Even in an inner city ward such as this, that is extraordinary at a local by-election. And the result?

Conservative: 49.6% +32.7
Green: 25.8% +20.0
Labour: 22.5% -49.8
Liberal Democrat: 1.4% -3.5

So much for 30 point poll leads. Has your opinion ever been polled? No, nor has mine. It is now done entirely by telephone, so they know exactly who they are asking. But based on real votes, Keir Starmer should be assuming absolutely nothing.

  1. The Labour vote has collapsed all over the place under Starmer and they won't be able to ignore that after tomorrow.

    1. Oh, they'll try. They are very good at ignoring things. But this trend will continue. All the way to 2024.
