Boris Johnson is sniffing around safely Conservative Reigate, where Crispin Blunt has already announced that he will be standing down.
The only possible reason for Johnson to want to remain an MP is with a view to becoming Prime Minister again.
But to earn some points towards that, then he should either defend his marginal seat, or he should consider that quite a few Red Wall winners were veteran local councillors and what have you.
One of them may be persuaded to retire, perhaps for a peerage and a couple of directorships. If Johnson fought and held one of those seats, then his stock would deservedly go up.
He still wants to be Leader by 2024.
