Burma Sauce

The Rohingya crisis ought to come as no surprise.

Buddhism is no more a religion of peace than Islam is. See Sri Lanka, Burma, Mongolia, Japan, Thailand, and beyond.

The Dalai Lama has never condemned either the invasion of Afghanistan or the invasion of Iraq.

In fact, an examination of the relevant texts shows that violence in general and war in particular are fundamental to Buddhism. Tibet is particularly striking for this.

As for Aung San Suu Kyi, she has always been overrated. And, like many Asian nationalists against European colonial powers, her father fought for Japan.

But she did make the most hilariously middlebrow appearance on Desert Island Discs.

  1. "she has always been overrated".

I'll take that from anyone else-but not from a subscriber to the ridiculous Left-wing Nelson Mandela Cult, an ode to possibly the the overrated person of all time.

    1. Oh, well, there is no shortage of other people who say it, if you cared to look.

And I am as critical as anyone is entitled to be who not only has family ties to to South Africa, but is not speaking from the old, embittered pro-apartheid camp.
