Outflanked

In a complete reversal of this month's Labour manifesto, all four remaining Leadership candidates are now in favour of a referendum on EU membership.

Not after some renegotiation, but early next year.

So David Cameron has already been completely outflanked on this.

One of them is also in favour of the two per cent defence spending target, which has also been endorsed by Tom Watson. Tom has done so on grounds with which I do no entirely agree. But so what?

Meaning that they will all rapidly come out for that, too.

And there hasn't even been a Queen's Speech yet.

No wonder that Cameron has said from the start that he was not going to serve a full term.

He had expected another hung Parliament, and thus to be able to blame the Lib Dems when he dropped the referendum and several other commitments.

But instead, here he is.
