Breach Birth

Last night's Call the Midwife, on the BBC and beginning at 8pm, packed its hour with the s-word, an entirely favourable and indeed sentimentalised portrayal of incest, a mixed party running about in their underwear, and a demonstration of how to put a condom onto a replica phallus.

That was Episode Five. There are to be six in total. Have the first four been a device to lure and ensnare an enormous, early evening, Sunday evening audience? What can we expect for next week's finale? Dare I even ask?
