Warsi Calls Them Out

Some of us have been telling you for long enough that this was what neoconservatism was: instead of the recapitulation in Jesus Christ and His Church of all three of the Old Israel and the Roman Empire, its definition of the West derives, via a background in New York Trotskyism, from the French Revolution, from the American Founding Fathers' position against which the First Amendment was in fact framed in order to protect the several States and their Established Churches, and from a heavily secularised inheritance of Judaism's denial of Original Sin and Judaism's unfulfilled Messianic hope and expectation.

Now, here it is, from the horse's mouth. It is this that must be "defended" by such draconian assaults on civil liberties at home, and it is this that must be spread by force of arms to every country in the world. To counterbalance this, how about a bit more of Freddy Gray on Coffee House, plus a few other paleocon, Tory contributors there, or on RightMinds, or on Telegraph Blogs, such as John Laughland, or Mark Almond, or Anthony Daniels/Theodore Dalrymple, or Geoffrey Wheatcroft, or any of Freddy's erstwhile colleagues on The American Conservative? Or, like paleo-Labour, is it now time for British paleocons, commonly called Tories, to start again on their own?

More broadly, in response to the challenge embodied by the Baroness as well as the challenge identified by her, we need to re-learn structured daily prayer, setting aside one day in seven, fasting, almsgiving, pilgrimage, the global community of faith as the primary focus of personal allegiance and locus of personal identity, the lesser outward and greater inward struggle, the need for a comprehensive and coherent critique of both capitalism and Marxism, the coherence between faith and reason, and a consequent integrated view of art and science. The answer to the challenge of the Sunna is Sacred Tradition. The answer to the challenge of the Imamate is the Petrine Office. The answer to the challenge of Sufism is our own tradition of mysticism and monasticism. Liberal Catholics will be the last to see the point.
