Pity Poor Chris Huhne

He could have relied on enough Top Gear viewers on the jury to acquit him. But Top Gear viewers have hardly been given cause to favour the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

  1. Not living in the UK and not being part of the media bubble there, I had to look this one up (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16866127).

Now there are some instances where the collapse of a marriage involving a public figure is so toxic, that the public figure just has to leave public life, as Mr. Gingrich will tell you. This seems to have been the case here. But this has to be in contention for the most trivial reason for a government minister to resign ever.

You are hanging alot on this. I'm missing the connection with Marxism and student politics.

  2. Oh, it's just an excuse to mention it, since he's in the news.
