New World

After a court ruling that it is illegal to tell lies about another candidate in an election, all bets are off. We are now living in an entirely different political culture. Coulson is going down. And then, who? What? Cash for peerages? Newspapers not giving equal coverage to all parties or candidates? After yesterday, anything is possible.

  1. See the "Conventional Question Begging" post earlier on American politics. I have been reading the judgment (http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/Resources/JCO/Documents/Judgments/judgment-oldham-election-05112010.pdf), and it has occured to me that if this was applied in the US, about 90% of how American political campaigns are conducted would be illegal.
