The Real New Cold War

As Wales begins by ending Christian collective worship in state school Sixth Forms, as Northern Ireland begins by excluding the Protestant clergy from their historic role in the state schools that serve their community and which their churches founded, and as the United Kingdom begins by trying to bully the people of Saint Helena and of the Cayman Islands not to include any reference to Christianity in their Constitutions, Russia begins by restoring the teaching of Christianity in her state schools.

Divorce is a casual affair in Russia, far, far beyond what Eastern Orthodoxy has always permitted. And abortion is scarcely, if at all, less so. But Russia is changing. Alas, so are we. In Britain last year, five thousand women and girls under 20 had abortions for at least the second time, while a further fifteen thousand women aged between 20 and 24 had repeat abortions, of which there were fifty thousand - fifty thousand - overall. All of these figures leave aside abortifacients dressed up as "emergency contraception".

What is the problem here? The unavailability of contraception? (Abortion always goes up in line with such availability; that has never, ever failed to happen.) The absence of sex education? The dearth of explicit sexual references and content in the mass media?

Here in the North East, we have the lowest proportion of women who have had more than one abortion, at one in 310. We must be grateful even for the smallest of mercies, but that is still a staggeringly high figure. In London, it is one in 106. Practically one per cent of the female population has had more than one abortion. Welcome back to the Soviet Union, just as what was once the Soviet Union welcomes herself back to Holy Russia.

Yes, there is a new Cold War on. But it is not the one that the neocons, Russia-hating Trotskysists to the last, want, or would have us believe is going on. Rather, it is between those of us who adhere to the True West, fundamentally and ultimately Christian, and those who adhere to the pseudo-West: godless, rootless, debt-based, stupefied, promiscuous, war-hungry, and only made possible by, among other abominations, very easy divorce. And abortion. Over, and over, and over again.
