There is something a bit off about a District Judge, what used to be called a Stipendiary Magistrate, sitting alone. But Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, whom at one point Ezra Levant called "Tommy Williamson", could have elected for trial by jury.
Yaxley-Lennon is daring the District Judge to convict him and send him down, thereby, he and his supporters would assert, proving his political point. The District Judge could have solved that by referring the case to Crown Court, where the maximum possible sentence would have been imprisonment, not for two years, but for 14.
Yaxley-Lennon was stopped at the Channel Tunnel in a £150,000 Bentley that was not registered to him. He was carrying £13,000 in cash, saying that he was delivering it to Benidorm. He had not bought a ticket, and he avoided eye contact. The case continues.
Joel on EastEnders and Tommy in real life.
ReplyDeleteJoel was grassed up by Tommy, but not the same one. This one's real name is Tommy.
DeleteSadly, Joel would be too young to share a cell with Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. They would deserve each other.
