As Sarah Wilkinson joins Richard Medhurst under arrest, Yvette Cooper confirms that she will be continuing Suella Braverman's appeal against the court ruling that she had acted unlawfully in using secondary legislation to change the definition of serious disruption, thereby giving sweeping anti-protest powers to the Police.
That "human rights lawyer", Keir Starmer, opposed few and would repeal none of the Public Order Act, the Covert Human Intelligence Sources (Criminal Conduct) Act, the Overseas Operations (Service Personnel and Veterans) Act, the Nationality and Borders Act, the Elections Act, the National Security Act, the Online Safety Act, and the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act.
On the contrary, expect a very great deal more of this sort of thing, because such measures are indispensable to the enforcement of austerity at home and to the suppression of dissent from wars of choice abroad. Wherever the Opposition came from, then it would not be from the party of the legislation listed above, nor from the party of the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act.
