Eastern Promise

There was precious little right with the Cameron Government, but it did at least appreciate that China was the coming power whether we liked it or not.

Britain has been funding the population control programme there for as long as that programme has existed, so those of us who have been tilling away in the pro-life movement for decades are thoroughly unimpressed at any newfound concern for a particular ethnic group whose plight has been singled out for wholly opportunistic reasons.

We must have no part in any new Cold War. We ought to have had no part in the old one, but that is past. This is the future. If the Americans do not want all that Chinese money, then we must be more than willing to take it. In order to use it to the good.

The regime in India is no better than the one in China, and it is bad in many of the same ways, again often at our generous expense. We have no dog in any fight between them, and we must be equally willing to stand up to either of them. But we ought to be more than willing to take all that Indian money, too. Again, in order to use it to the good.
