Abandon That Tool

In the words of Boris Johnson about a second lockdown, "I can't abandon that tool any more than I would abandon a nuclear deterrent. But it is like a nuclear deterrent, I certainly don't want to use it, and nor do I think we will be in that position again."

So the Prime Minister is downright blasé about the fact that the "nuclear deterrent" will never be used. Still less does he trot out the old line that "we use it every day" because it "deters" someone or other despite the fact that this country is permanently at war.

This really is a very major admission. In other times, then it would have been front page, lead item news. It still should be.
