The Pits of Their Stomachs

It is a Yes-No question, "Do you regret the defeat of the miners in 1985?" This London schoolboy says that he will not eat until the new coalmine at Whitehaven has been scrapped.  He obviously has no idea how wind turbines are made. Well, of course he hasn't.

Elijah McKenzie-Jackson would appear to have a death wish. He does not care whether he starves to death, or he freezes to death. But he is determined to do one or the other. Still, if he is 16 and his parents are letting him starve himself, then they have quite the case to answer. Imagine if working-class parents did that.

Meanwhile Greta Thunberg has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the second year running. Well, she is not going to win any prizes for attendance at her school, is she? I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com.

That includes Ms Thunberg, to whom I repeat my invitation to come to North West Durham and debate against me. Greta, darling, this is your opportunity to extol the virtues of deindustrialisation to the inhabitants of our former steel town and of our former pit villages. Very many thanks.
