Common, Sense

For the sake of argument, imagine that Diane Abbott had made the remarks about Grenfell Tower that have been made by Jacob Rees-Mogg.

The official attempt to blame the firefighters was jeered off by the rest of us, so the line is now to blame the residents. Not Brandon Lewis. Not the ennobled Gavin Barwell. Not the flagship Conservative council. And not the Blair Government that abolished the requirement for buildings to be signed off by the Fire Brigade, but to which 85 per cent of Labour MPs are still going to be devoted after the General Election.

Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. After nearly 30 years of suggestion, speculation, and even a sort of preparation, I am standing for Parliament here at North West Durham.

The crowdfunding page is here, and buy the book here. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
